I Break Websites for a Living

I break websites for a living - title graphic

Selling production art online has been a goal of mine for a long time. When I took the opportunity to design specifically for my first online sales collection, I wanted to throw my whole arsenal into designs for weekend bags and coffee mugs over t-shirts and album covers. I was excited to create just for creating, I felt like I was working for and expressing myself, at the same time.

Design is about rules, design is a part of art

The title isn’t always the first thing, this time it was the only thing I had besides the desire so I prompted some text to image program my concept. I was using a new design template trying to be serious so as not to get off track when I get these as a response to I Break Websites for a Living?!

As I worked through these four options they reminded me of Albrecht Dürer’s etchings which inspired the one I chose for the featured image and the title design.

I love the idea of paint designs on throw pillows and producing paintings is like watching paint dry so I used digital tools.

  • hxvi2 is a throw pillow & tote bag favorite of mine
  • hxvi3  makes a great tote, shower curtain & iPhone cover
  • hxvi4 is my favorite of the 3! This is absolutely the design I was shooting for

Being able to work on multiple designs, simultaneously helps build relationship. Being able to do this in minutes, compared to years, makes those subtle similarities immediate.

AND NOW a break in the website

When one of my tools suffers a hallucination, I look for inspiration yet I have no inclination to put this on a tote.

I'm most comfortable in the most abstract way

Kites

I dig triangles. Triangles are math in design AND used in design magic!

the Parrot

There's something about the piracy of design that this project needs a parrot. I like it as a shower curtain!

Robot

This design would be as close as a self portrait that this project could get. By the time this one rolled off the line, it just felt robotic.

Eagle

My inner Picasso. If it hurts your head and you don't get it; you're welcome. If you get it; buy one and thank me.

the Cathedral

The only reason this design is here is because it looks marvelous! Else it is Picasso vomit.

Wines

I love purple to a fault which is why I love this design on everything!

BeachBall

There's something about the aura of a beachball. To blend psychedelically into the essence of the experience.

the Laboratory

At times I felt like I was working in a surrealist design laboratory for shower curtains.

BumbleBee

This design is another one of my favorite tote designs that looks great as a wall hanging.

Compass

Sometimes it's just about the right direction! Thanks for looking and I appreciate your support.
